On a lazy Sunday, who doesn't crave a delicious, comforting meal that's quick to prepare? Our take on fast food features sweet potato fries, a healthier alternative to regular fries, served with crispy battered fried chicken.

What You'll Need

  • 10-12 chicken drumsticks
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon curry powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic ginger paste
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 kg sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into fry shapes
  • 1 litre oil for frying
  • Salt to taste

For the Batter

  • 1 cup flour
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder

How to Make It

  1. Marinate the chicken drumsticks in a mixture of black pepper, garlic ginger paste, turmeric powder, and lemon juice for about an hour.
  2. Deep-fry the marinated chicken in a pan over medium heat until cooked through.
  3. Prepare the batter by whisking together flour, turmeric, paprika, salt, vinegar, and water.
  4. Remove the chicken from the heat and let it cool before pouring the chicken gravy into the batter mixture.
  5. Dip the chicken into the batter and deep-fry until golden brown.
  6. Use the same oil to fry the sweet potato chips until crispy.
