On August 3, 2019, a gunman attacked a Walmart store in El Paso, Texas, killing 20 people and wounding several others.
Former 800m Olympics champion Paul Ereng, who resides in El Paso, reported that the names of the casualties and the injured had been disclosed to their immediate families.
According to Ereng, the area where the shooting occurred is frequented by Kenyans, but he assured that they are safe.
‘Thank God we are safe, this is my mall, at the same time, we are very sad for those who lost lives and the injured. This is a very sad day here in El Paso,’ Ereng said in a message to the Nation.
Patrick Cruisius, 21, was reported to have surrendered to the police after the attack.
