Liverpool vs Manchester City: Community Shield Showdown ¶
Published on August 4, 2019, at 10:53:07 AM
Manchester City's title-winning campaign last season has set the stage for a thrilling Community Shield showdown against Liverpool at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, August 4.
City's impressive run to the Premier League title was capped off on the final day of the 2018-19 season, with Liverpool finishing second.
However, the Reds hold a better head-to-head record against the Citizens, having won seven out of nine matches, including a 2-1 victory at the Etihad and a 0-0 draw at Anfield.
Despite this, City's superior performance last season has given them an edge going into the Community Shield.
Both teams will be without key players, with Sadio Mane missing for Liverpool and Fernandinho and Ederson absent for Manchester City.
Here's a possible starting XI for each team:
- Liverpool: Mignolet; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson, Fabinho, Milner; Oxlade-Chamberlain, Origi, Lallana
- Manchester City: Bravo; Walker, Stones, Laporte, Zinchenko; De Bruyne, Rodri, Foden; Bernardo, Sterling, Sane
The match is scheduled to kick off at 5pm EAT at Wembley Stadium.
