On August 4, 2019, a devastating plane crash occurred in western Tanzania, claiming the lives of two South African citizens.
The aircraft, a four-seater Sling plane with registration ZU-TAF-19, was from South Africa and owned by U-Dream Global, a South African organization.
According to Tanzanian officials, the pilot and passenger were killed in the crash, which happened shortly after take-off from Tabora Airport at around 7:30 am.
Peres Magiri, the district commissioner of Sikonge, stated in an interview with ITV television station, "The pilot and passenger, both South African citizens, were killed in the plane crash that occurred shortly after take-off from Tabora Airport at around 7.30 am."
The plane had entered Tanzania's airspace from Uganda en route to Malawi and made a distress signal about engine failure before disappearing from radar, according to the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA).
