Gunman kills 20 at Texas Walmart store in latest US mass shooting ¶
On Saturday, a gunman opened fire on shoppers at a packed Walmart store in Texas, killing 20 people and wounding 26 others in the latest mass shooting in the United States.
According to police, the gunman, identified as 21-year-old Patrick Crusius from Allen, Texas, was taken into custody after surrendering to police about a block away from the Walmart store.
Crusius, who is white, was reportedly wearing a black T-shirt, combat trousers, and ear muffs when he opened fire on shoppers at around 10:30 am.
Witnesses described the gunman as shooting randomly at people in the store's parking lot, with one woman, Vanessa, telling Fox News that she saw a lady fall after being shot.
Another shopper, Robert Curado, managed to avoid being hit by hiding with his mother between two vending machines just outside the store.
Police confirmed that the Walmart store was at capacity at the time of the shooting, with 1,000-3,000 customers inside.
US President Donald Trump condemned the shooting as 'an act of cowardice' and called for an end to the 'epidemic' of gun violence in the United States.
Trump said on Twitter, 'There are no reasons or excuses that will ever justify killing innocent people.'
It was the second fatal shooting in less than a week at a Walmart store in the US and comes after a mass shooting in California last weekend.
Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said three Mexican citizens were killed in the shooting, while Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard said six others were wounded.
