Published on August 4, 2019, a somber mood has befallen Kenya following the loss of three prominent leaders to cancer in less than a month.
Bob Collymore, the CEO of Safaricom, Ken Okoth, the Member of Parliament for Kibra, and Dr Joyce Laboso, the Governor of Bomet, left behind a legacy that has inspired a priest to call on Christians to strengthen their relationship with God.
Fr Peter Mose, while delivering a sermon at St Joseph The Worker Parish Church in Nakuru Town, emphasized the importance of putting one's relationship with God as top priority.
“It is important to put our relationship with God as top priority,” he said.
He added that the heavenly wealth is the most treasured wealth, which Christians should strive to acquire, as it is more fulfilling and has many rewards for troubled souls.
Fr Mose also expressed concern over parents who prioritize their children's education over their spiritual nourishment.
“Many parents want to acquire bragging rights that their sons and daughters are in top national schools and others are pursuing lucrative courses at the universities but they have no time to pray with their children,” he said.
He called on wealthy Christians to be tolerant of the poor and assist them whenever they are in financial trouble.
“Some landlords are very fast to lock houses of their tenants due to non-payment of rent without establishing what financial problems their tenants could be undergoing,” he said.
Fr Mose stressed the importance of acquiring wealth without engaging in corrupt deals.
“Acquiring wealth is not a sin but let be in a clean way. Wealth should make us move closer to God,” he said.
