On Friday, August 2, 2019, Kenyan golfer Serah Kanyereri made history by winning the 2019 Coast Ladies title at the par 72 Vipingo Ridge Golf course in Kilifi.

Carding a four-over-par 76 gross, Kanyereri, a member of the Nairobi Royal Cub golf club, beat some Tanzanian golfers to claim the silver trophy.

"This is a fantastic course with many challenges. It has some tricky pin positions and I am excited to win. I hope to defend the title next year," said Kanyereri.

She was four strokes ahead of Tanzanian Ayne Mangombe from Lugalo golf club, who was the gross winner.

Other notable winners included Esther Chumo from Eldoret, who scored 81 gross on count back to take runner-up spot, and Lucy Kisia, who won the bronze medal with 99 gross.
