October 2nd, 2017, Nairobi Women Representative Esther Passaris made headlines after a local TV station interview where she alleged that Kikuyus and Kalenjins have been brainwashed by the current Jubilee administration, making them poor and helpless.

According to Passaris, the brainwashing has led to the group's economic downfall, with many people in Central Kenya struggling to make ends meet despite having leadership in the government.

Passaris further alleged that the group claiming to be the Nairobi Business Community is actually a revamped Mungiki militia, a group notorious for their role in the 2007/08 post-election violence.

There have been allegations of a resurgence of Mungiki, with opposition politicians claiming they are being contracted by the current regime to counter Nasa's demonstrators in their push for electoral reforms.

Earlier today, a group of residents from Lucky Summer in Nairobi demonstrated against the alleged Mungiki meeting in the area, claiming that the group planned to cause violence during next week's repeat presidential elections.
