On a thrilling Saturday, August 2, 2019, Zimbabwe's national rugby team edged Kenya's Simbas 30-29 in a Victoria Cup match played in Harare, Zimbabwe.

Top Fry Nakuru's Monate Akuei scored two tries for Kenya, but it wasn't enough to secure a win for the Simbas.

At halftime, the score was 17-17, with both teams having scored three unconverted tries each.

Kenya's Johnstone Mangau intercepted a pass and passed it to Monate, who scored the Simbas' first try. Monate then scored his second try, but Jacob Ojee missed the conversion.

However, Zimbabwe scored a third try, and Kenya's Kuka responded with a try of his own to make it 17-17 at halftime.

Kenya took the lead 24-22, but Zimbabwe landed a converted try to take the lead 24-22. Kenya responded with another five-pointer, but Zimbabwe won the match 30-29 with two late penalties.

Kenya's next match is against Zambia on August 24 in Nairobi, followed by a match against Zimbabwe on September 21.
