Chelsea's new manager Franck Lampard narrowly avoided his second preseason defeat as his team drew 2-2 with Borussia Monchengladbach in their last friendly game before the start of the new season on August 3, 2019.

Alassane Plea opened scoring for the German side in the 13th minute after benefiting from a poor clearance from Chelsea and firing into the bottom left corner.

Jonas Hofmann doubled his side's lead with just six minutes left to play in the first half after launching a counter-attacking move from the opponent's initial attack.

However, Tammy Abraham and Ross Barkley rescued a draw for Chelsea with two second-half goals, reducing the deficit from the spot and restoring parity for the Premier League outfit.

The draw gave Lampard a much-needed boost ahead of his first competitive game against Manchester United next week Sunday.
