Paris Saint-Germain's Kylian Mbappe stole the show as the team claimed their first silverware of the new season with a 2-1 victory over Rennes in the French Champions Trophy on August 3, 2019, in Shenzhen.

PSG's German coach Thomas Tuchel expressed relief at the win, citing the steamy conditions and the team's fatigue after a long road trip.

"There's fatigue for everyone," Tuchel said, pointing to the challenging conditions in the southern Chinese city.

Despite being behind at halftime, PSG staged a remarkable comeback, with Mbappe scoring the equalizer in the second half and Angel Di Maria netting the winner with a free kick.

Di Maria's effort was a testament to his hard work, which paid off as he gave the Rennes defense a runaround.

For his part, Tuchel praised the entire team, singling out defender Abdou Diallo, Di Maria, and skipper Marquinhos for their outstanding performances.

"Diallo just kept attacking," Tuchel said. "He's a very important player for us and he brings other players into the game. Di Maria came into the game when it was at a dangerous time for us and he delivered. Marquinhos showed his quality and he was perfect. He can control the whole field."
