On the night of August 2, 2019, a tense situation unfolded at Lee Funeral Home in Nairobi as Ken Okoth's widow, Monica Okoth, arrived at the facility demanding the release of her husband's body.
According to K24, Monica arrived at the funeral home around 10 PM, claiming that a section of Kibra residents had planned to block roads leading to the crematorium to thwart the cremation process.
Lee Funeral Home initially refused to release the body, citing the late hour, leading to a four-hour standoff that ended at 3 AM when the body was finally released to Monica and her team.
Despite the family's wishes to bury Ken Okoth in Kabondo Kasipul, Monica's team allegedly took the body to the crematorium, where it was cremated in secret.
A family member, Elvis Oluoch, expressed disappointment that Monica had planned and executed the cremation exercise without the family's knowledge or consent.
