A poll conducted by the Center for American Progress Action Fund found that among voters surveyed, calling President Trump 'ineffective' moved the most voters toward a generic Democratic candidate, while the 'racist' label moved the fewest.
Among black voters, the poll revealed that calling Trump 'ineffective' was more effective in moving support to Democrats than labeling him a racist.
Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey, one of the five candidates who called Trump a racist during the debates, emphasized the importance of connecting with the struggles of communities of color, saying, 'This isn't about just speaking to the obvious, that our president is a racist, it has to be about how are you connected to the struggle of our communities.'
Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes of Wisconsin, a state that saw a significant drop in African-American turnout between 2012 and 2016, warned his party that the eventual standard-bearer must speak unambiguously about Trump's conduct to energize black voters.
