On Saturday, Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu made his first public appearance since being released from Industrial Area Remand Prison, two days prior.
During his inspection tour, the governor visited the ongoing construction at Wangige Level Four Hospital and Kikuyu market, which is partly funded by the World Bank.
Mr. Waititu announced plans to chair a meeting on Wednesday at a location of his choice, not at the county headquarters.
His return to work comes amidst a court ruling that bars him from office due to an ongoing case involving the irregular procurement of a Sh588 million tender for upgrading gravel roads to bitumen standard.
According to a recent court decision, governors charged with economic crimes, like Mr. Waititu, are required to step aside and allow their deputies to take over their roles during the trial.
