On August 3, 2019, two days after his release from Industrial Area Remand Prison, Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu embarked on an inspection tour of ongoing projects in the county.
The governor visited the Wangige Level Four Hospital and Kikuyu market, where construction is underway, partly funded by the World Bank.
Waititu announced plans to chair a meeting on Wednesday at a location of his choice, not at the county headquarters.
His decision comes despite a court order barring him from office due to an ongoing case involving the irregular procurement of a Sh588 million tender for upgrading gravel roads to bitumen standard.
The ruling, made by Justice Mumbi Ngugi, affects county bosses charged with economic crimes, requiring them to step aside and allow their deputies to take over during the trial.
