On Saturday, August 3, 2019, the Kisumu Polytechnic grounds witnessed a thrilling netball match between Kaya Tiwi Secondary School and Nyakach Girls Secondary School at the National Secondary Schools Term Two Games.

Defending champions Kaya Tiwi Secondary School from the Coast Region emerged victorious, defeating Nyakach Girls Secondary School 36-29 to retain their title.

Melda Oguda, the eldest of the two siblings, was named the Most Valuable Player after a spectacular display, particularly in the finals. Her younger sister, Monica Oguda, scored an impressive 250 goals, the highest by a single player in the history of the games, earning her the top scorer's award.

The match was, however, marred by a tense moment when irate Nyakach fans invaded the pitch in an attempt to stop the encounter. Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) officials intervened, bringing in anti-riot police to resume the game under heavy police presence.

"We prepared very well for this year's games because we knew we were going to play our main challengers in front of their own fans and we are happy the hard work finally paid off," Kaya Tiwi captain Melda Oguda said.
