As of August 1, 2019, the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has discontinued the acceptance of Euros and British pounds for transactions at national parks and game reserves.
This decision, announced by KWS, aims to curb the rising costs of maintaining multiple currency accounts and improve the ease of doing business.
According to KWS, visitors can still use cashless modes of transaction, including Safaricom M-Pesa, Visa and Master Card credit cards, and corporate cheques.
As stated by KWS on Twitter, 'This means that KWS shall henceforth transact in two currencies only; Kenya Shillings (Kes) and United States Dollars ($).'
