On Friday, August 2, 2019, a massive traffic snarl-up paralyzed transport along the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway, leaving motorists stranded for over 20 hours.

According to eyewitnesses, the traffic build-up started at the Gilgil weighbridge at around 5pm, causing a huge backlog of vehicles.

Traders took advantage of the situation, selling bread at Ksh.200, a significant increase from the usual price of Ksh.50.

Drivers and travellers were left agonizing over the situation, with traffic officers working to ensure traffic flow resumes.

Motorists were forced to spend the night on the highway, highlighting the severity of the situation.
