Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso's Funeral Service Unites Kenyans in Kisumu

On August 3, 2019, thousands of mourners gathered at St. Augustine's Kandege Secondary School in Fort Tenan, Kisumu County, to bid farewell to the late Bomet Governor Dr. Joyce Laboso.

The funeral service, presided over by RT Reverend Dr Paul Korir of ACK Diocese, was attended by Deputy President William Ruto, ODM leader Raila Odinga, Governors, Senators, MPs, family members, and several government officials.

Dr. Laboso passed away at the Nairobi Hospital on July 29, 2019, after succumbing to cancer at the age of 59. She had returned to the country two weeks prior, on July 14, 2019, after a medical trip to India and the United Kingdom.

Earlier on Friday, a memorial service was held at the Bomet green stadium, where Bomet residents paid their final respects to the departed governor.
