Ken Okoth, the late Kibra Member of Parliament, was cremated in a private ceremony at Kariokor Crematorium in Nairobi on Saturday morning.

The 41-year-old politician, who succumbed to colorectal cancer on July 26th, had expressed his wish to be cremated, a decision that was respected by his family and friends.

However, Okoth's mother, Angelina, insisted that her son should be buried at their rural home in Kabondo Kasipul, Homa Bay County, and reportedly skipped the cremation ceremony.

ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna confirmed the cremation in a statement, saying,

"This is to let you know that Hon. Okoth's remains have been cremated this morning in accordance with his wishes and in the presence of his family. I thank all of you for the support and patience in the course of this journey. May he Rest in peace,"
