Ken Okoth, the late Kibra Member of Parliament, was cremated at the Kariokor crematorium in Nairobi on Saturday morning, August 3, 2019.

The cremation took place despite opposition from some family members who wanted him buried in his rural home in Kabondo Kasipul, Homa Bay County.

Okoth's mother, Angelina Okoth, had insisted that her son be buried at her rural home, but the family ultimately decided to cremate him in accordance with his wishes.

ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna confirmed that the cremation took place in the presence of Okoth's family and said it was in accordance with his wishes.

"This is to let you know that Hon. Okoth's remains have been cremated this morning in accordance with his wishes and in the presence of his family. I thank all of you for the support and patience in the course of this journey. May he Rest in peace," Sifuna said in a statement.
