On August 2, 2019, a shocking incident unfolded in Juja, Kiambu County, when the body of Mary Wambui Kamangara was found dumped in a dam. Her husband, Joseph Kori Karue, and his lover, Judy Wangui, are being held by police over the murder.
According to police reports, Karue had a previous relationship with another woman, with whom they have a child, before hooking up with the deceased. Wambui's family has confirmed this.
Wangui, who was earlier an employee of Karue and Wambui, had taken Wambui to her house, where the alleged murder took place. Sources close to the investigation claim Judy confessed that Kori hit his wife with the butt of his pistol during the commotion.
Wambui reportedly collapsed and died, and her body was later dumped in the dam in Juja. Karue allegedly told his wife's parents that Wambui had been kidnapped.
Police reports also reveal that Karue warned his lover – Wangui – against revealing what transpired in her house. 'Wangui told us that the man promised to give her Sh2 million for her silence over the matter,' a police source said.
