On August 2, 2019, the body of the late Ken Okoth was cremated in a private ceremony in Nairobi, Kenya.

According to Evans Oluoch, the nephew of the late MP, the family had not agreed to the cremation plans.

Oluoch stated that the family had not held any meetings to discuss the matter and that his mother, Ageline Ajwang', was not involved in the decision-making process.

He also claimed that Edwin Sifuna, the ODM secretary general, had misled the public by stating that the family had agreed to the cremation.

"The family did not hold any meetings. If there was a meeting of that nature, my mother Ken and my relatives would have been present. We were shocked when the media announced that Sifuna had claimed that the family had agreed to cremate Ken. My mother Ken was not involved. The plans were being made in Kasipul Kabondo, and my relatives did not travel to Nairobi," Oluoch said.
