On August 3, 2019, the body of former Kibra MP Ken Okoth was cremated in a private ceremony at Kariokor crematorium in Nairobi, as per his wishes.

Earlier, a court had ordered a DNA test to determine the paternity of Okoth's five-year-old son, who was claimed by Ann Thumbi to be the MP's child.

Okoth's family and Thumbi's representatives reached an amicable agreement, allowing the DNA test to proceed and Thumbi's son to participate in the final rites.

According to the agreement, Okoth's family would provide a DNA sample from his body for analysis, and Thumbi's son would be allowed to attend the cremation ceremony.

ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna stated that there had never been a dispute over Okoth's paternity, and the party had consented to the DNA test and Thumbi's son's participation in the final rites.

The cremation ceremony was a private affair, with only close family members and friends in attendance.
