Ken Okoth, the late Kibra MP, was cremated in a private event at Nairobi's Kariokor crematorium on August 3, 2019.

According to Edwin Sifuna, the family's lawyer and ODM secretary general, the cremation was carried out in the morning as per the family's agreement to honor Okoth's wishes.

Earlier, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) had considered flying Okoth's body to Homa Bay for viewing before handing it over to the family for the final process.

However, this plan was abandoned due to logistical issues, and the family ultimately decided to cremate Okoth in Nairobi.

Okoth's paternal family had initially opposed the cremation plan, insisting that he should be laid to rest next to his father's grave in Amoso village, Homa Bay county.

Additionally, Okoth's internment had faced a court injunction sought by his alleged lover, who claimed to have borne a son with the late MP.

The court later quashed the orders, allowing the family to proceed with the cremation.
