Published on August 3, 2019, a court case has been filed against Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and Kirinyaga Women Representative Purity Ngirici by Business Aircraft Management Ltd, a company owned by the Kenyatta family.
The company, which operates as Flex Air Charters, is demanding 2.5 million shillings from Joho for flying services provided during his 2016 campaigns. The services were rendered between October 7th and October 17th.
Flex Air Charters is also suing Ngirici for 3.8 million shillings, which she allegedly owes for chopper services used during the 2017 general elections.
According to lawyer Donal B Kipkorir, who represents the company in court, Joho has rejected several pleas to pay the company despite being served with demand notices.
"The chief pilot flew and operated the aircraft, did the rotational flying and delivered its work pursuant to the agreement," Kipkorir said, quoting the company's agreement with Joho.
Ngirici, who was sued alongside her husband, was known for her opulent campaign style, which included using multiple helicopters during the 2017 general elections.
