Jose Mourinho Tips Tammy Abraham, Zouma to Shine in Chelsea Campaign ¶
Chelsea's Frank Lampard will rely heavily on Tammy Abraham and Kurt Zouma to lead the team's campaign in the upcoming season, according to former manager Jose Mourinho.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Mourinho praised the duo's potential, saying: 'I think every manager in the world would love to play with young players. I think Chelsea is a special club for that. I give you an example, Chelsea needs Kurt Zouma! He doesn't need to buy or loan him. Zouma is the best player in England. He played for Chelsea, Stoke, Everton, and France in the Premier League.'
Mourinho also spoke highly of Tammy Abraham, who scored 23 goals in 41 appearances for Bristol City in the 2016-17 Championship season.
'You have a loan player, you don't need to buy another player to replace him. You already have one. As a manager, you want to be a winner – Tammy Abraham! He knows the team. He was loaned to the club and trained with the club.'
Abraham has already played some Premier League games and has experience playing in the Championship, which Mourinho believes will serve him well in the upcoming season.
'You don't need to think about the problem. The problem is that you lost a very special player, Eden Hazard. He was a very special player for Chelsea, and you lost him. But you have another problem – you have a lot of young players who are not playing for the national team.'
Chelsea is currently under a two-year transfer ban and cannot sign any new players for the upcoming season. However, Lampard will have to rely on his existing squad to compete in the Premier League.
According to The Sun, Mourinho had a challenge of integrating young players into his team during his time at Chelsea.
'In 2015, the Special One said that he had no young players who could play for the national team. He said that Lewis Baker, Izzy Brown, and Dominic Solanke were not good enough to play for the national team.'
Despite the challenges, Chelsea fans are optimistic that Lampard will be able to integrate young players into the team and lead them to success in the upcoming season.
Jose Mourinho has been linked with a move to Valencia in Spain for the upcoming season.
