Nairobi nominated MCA Anne Muthoni Thumbi has made headlines with her revelation of a secret love affair with late Kibra MP Ken Okoth, a relationship that spanned several years.
According to Anne, she met Okoth in 2013, before he was elected as Kibra MP, while she was working at Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi as a nurse and member of the Sonko Rescue Team.
Okoth, who was preparing to launch his bid for the Kibra parliamentary seat, asked Anne out on dates, and their relationship eventually turned romantic.
Anne played an active role in Okoth's 2013 campaigns, which saw him win the Kibra parliamentary seat on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket.
Tragically, Okoth succumbed to cancer on July 26th at Nairobi Hospital, leaving behind a four-year-old son, Jayden Baraka Okoth, whom he had with Anne in 2015.
Okoth was a devoted father, always inquiring about Jayden's progress in school and checking on his well-being with the teachers, Anne revealed in an interview with Daily Nation.
However, Anne's relationship with Okoth's family has been strained, with her claiming that they unilaterally decided to cremate his body to destroy any evidence of Jayden's lineage to the deceased.
She has obtained court orders stopping Okoth's burial or cremation until a case she filed on behalf of their son is heard and determined.
The matter will be heard on August 9th, 2019, before Senior Principal Magistrate Hon. Addah Obura.
