On August 3, 2019, a court ruling paved the way for the cremation of late Kibra MP Ken Okoth to proceed on Saturday, after feuding parties agreed to resolve the matter through a DNA test.
Attorneys representing Okoth's mother Angeline, wife Monica, and his alleged secret lover, Nairobi MCA Anne Muthoni Thumbi, said the parties mutually agreed to resolve the matter through a DNA test.
Ms. Muthoni claimed that her four-year-old son is a biological child of the late politician and had obtained court orders stopping the cremation ceremony.
According to Danstan Omari, Muthoni's lawyer, the parties resolved to resolve the matter as a family issue, with the cremation proceeding as planned after DNA samples are collected from Okoth's body at Lee Funeral Home.
Omari noted that each party would have its pathologist during the collection and testing of DNA samples, and that the pathologist would provide the methodologies to be used while awaiting the results of the DNA test.
