On September 28, 2017, the Kenyan diaspora community in the United States announced plans for massive protests at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City and in Dallas, Texas.
The protests, aimed at bringing international awareness to the ongoing crackdown on free speech in Kenya, are scheduled to take place on September 30, 2017, in New York City and on October 6, 2017, in Dallas.
Organizers also plan to call for reforms in the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), particularly the resignation of CEO Ezra Chiloba.
Protests are also scheduled to take place in London, United Kingdom, Paris, France, and Berlin, Germany.
International news organizations have confirmed coverage of the events in New York City and Dallas.
Amnesty International, Youth for Human Rights, International Africa, and Safari Yangu have sponsored these protests.
