Calls for Unity Dominate Dr Joyce Laboso's Requiem Mass

On August 3, 2019, a requiem mass was held for Bomet Governor Dr Joyce Laboso, with calls for unity dominating the event.

Leaders, including President Uhuru Kenyatta, his Deputy William Ruto, and ODM leader Raila Odinga, attended the mass at the Bomet Green Stadium.

President Kenyatta, in his eulogy, described Dr Laboso as a charismatic leader who understood politics.

Dr Ruto reiterated his loyalty to the President and assured him and Mr Odinga of his unwavering support for unity of the country.

He emphasized that Jubilee was formed to enhance unity, not to win elections, and that he was committed to working with the President and Mr Odinga to unite the country.

Mr Odinga stressed the need to unite the country to rid it of corruption and emphasized the importance of completing the Bosto water project as a sign of respect for Dr Laboso.

Other leaders who attended the mass included Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen, Youth and Gender Affairs Chief Administrative Secretary Rachel Shebesh, and Nominated Senator Cecil Mbarire.
