On August 2, 2019, a court ruling paved the way for the cremation of late Kibra MP Ken Okoth to proceed on Saturday, after feuding parties agreed to resolve the matter through a DNA test.
Attorneys representing Okoth's mother, Angeline, wife, Monica, and his alleged secret lover, Nairobi MCA Anne Muthoni Thumbi, announced the agreement on Friday.
Ms. Muthoni had claimed that her four-year-old son is a biological child of the late politician and obtained court orders stopping the cremation ceremony on Thursday.
According to Danstan Omari, Muthoni's lawyer, the parties agreed to resolve the matter as a family issue, with DNA samples collected from Okoth's body at Lee Funeral Home before the cremation.
Each party will have its pathologist present during the DNA sample collection and testing process, with the pathologist providing the methodologies to be used.
Ms. Muthoni's intention was not to stop the funeral program, as she 'loved Ken so much,' and the court also ruled that the boy be allowed to participate in the funeral program.
