Ken Okoth, the late Kibra MP, was reportedly in a romantic relationship with Anita Muthoni Thumbi, a 31-year-old nurse and nominated MCA from Nyeri county, before his demise on July 25.
According to a sworn affidavit, Anita claims to be the mother of Okoth's five-year-old son and has demanded that the minor be recognized as the late legislator's biological son.
Through her lawyer, Anita alleged that she was kept out of the picture despite expressing her wish to be included in Okoth's obituary.
As a nominated MCA, Anita sits in several committees, including Public Health Services, Energy Information, Communications and Technology, Culture and Community Services, and Delegated County Legislation.
Before her nomination to the county assembly in 2017, Anita worked as a nurse at the Aga Khan Hospital.
On August 1, Anita moved to court and obtained a court order to stop Okoth's burial, citing her desire to be recognized as the mother of his son.
