Kenya's boxing team is gearing up for the All African Games in Rabat, Morocco, with the final squad of male and female fighters named on August 2, 2019.
The team includes lightweight 64kgs Ethan Maina of Kenya Police and welterweight 75kgs Boniface Mugunde, who fights for Kenya Defence Forces. Both boxers will be making their international debuts.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, team head coach Musa Benjamin expressed confidence in the squad, saying they will bring glory to the country following their rigorous training since leaving Mombasa.
“No one knew if I would be in the squad as everyone was good and it was not easy, they have chosen the best so my target is to get a medal since that’s everyone’s aim,” said Boniface Mugunde on his selection.
The final squad will continue their residential training at Kasarani indoor arena before jetting out on August 15.

Women's Squad:
- Light flyweight 48-51kgs: Christine Ongare Shisoka
- Lightweight 60kgs: Everlyne Akinyi
- Welterweight 64-67kgs: Lorna Kusa
- Middleweight 69-75kgs: Elizabeth Andiego
Team Manager Isaac Mbote and Assistant Coach David Munuhe, who doubles as BFK Secretary General, will accompany the team.
