On a sunny Friday afternoon, August 2, 2019, the Koth Biro third-place final match took place at the Umeme Grounds in Ziwani. MASA from Makongeni edged out Umeme Bees from Ziwani with a solitary goal, securing a spot in the podium.
Norman Ogolla, a highly-rated left back and form four student at Kakamega High School, scored the winning goal in the 79th minute. His impressive performance has caught the attention of several teams, including Kariobangi Sharks, Nairobi Stima, and Mathare United, with Slum Boys reportedly having an agreement in principle with him.
MASA coach Amin Agik praised his team's performance, stating that they exceeded expectations. 'We have been playing in Koth Biro for seven years, and this time we have done very well. Our plan was to build on last year's performance by at least getting to the quarterfinal stage, but the boys have surprised me. Next year we will be going for the title,' he said.
Umeme coach Seif Mohammed acknowledged his team's improvement, saying they had done better than last year's performance. 'We have improved on last year's performance where we exited at the last 16 stage, but this time we got to the semi-final level and that is good. It was a game of very few chances, and MASA utilised the only chance they got. Congratulations to them,' he said.
The final match of the tournament will take place on Saturday, August 3, 2019, at the same venue, with Allin Jua Kali facing Kingstone. The winner will receive Sh100,000, a trophy, and the opportunity to face the winner of the Ndondo Cup in Tanzania.
