On Saturday, August 3, 2019, the Kisumu Polytechnic will host the netball final of the National Secondary Schools Term Two Games, featuring a repeat of last year's final between Kaya Tiwi Secondary School from the Coast region and Nyakach Girls Secondary School.
Coastal girls Kaya Tiwi will be looking to avenge their 58-26 loss to Nyakach in last year's final, which saw them extend their dominance in the sport.
Both teams secured their spots in the final after a thrilling semi-final match, where Kaya Tiwi edged out Bukhoholo Secondary School 37-28, while Nyakach Girls Secondary School narrowly defeated Karuri Secondary School 39-17.
However, Kaya Tiwi's victory was not without its challenges, as they faced a scare from Bukhoholo in the third quarter after a technical blunder by their coach Maryanne Obonyo.
The defending champions had taken a narrow 8-7 lead in the first quarter, but outscored their opponents 13-4 in the second quarter for a significant 21-12 lead at the break.
But a technical blunder by Kaya Tiwi's coach saw them change their strategy in the third quarter, which ultimately led to their victory.
On Saturday, the netball programme will kick off at 8am with play-offs between Bukhoholo and Karuri, followed by the highly anticipated final match between Kaya Tiwi and Nyakach at 10am.
