Ken Okoth's family has abandoned plans to fly his body to Kabondo Kasipul, Homa Bay, for the final funeral service. The decision was made due to logistical issues, according to ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna.

Speaking at Milimani Law Courts on Friday, Sifuna explained that the cremation of the late MP will proceed as planned. The court had earlier ruled that the child of Okoth's alleged father, MCA Anne Thumbi, would participate in the funeral program.

Okoth's family had initially planned to fly his body to Kabondo Kasipul for the final funeral service at Got-Rateng' grounds. However, his paternal family had wanted him buried at Amoso village in Kochia ward, Homa Bay County, next to his late father's grave.

They argued that cremation is not recognized in the Luo culture. The family of Okoth's alleged father, MCA Anne Thumbi, had moved to court to stop the funeral proceedings, claiming that Okoth's family had refused to include them in the ceremony.

However, both parties have agreed to resolve the matter through a DNA test, with the funeral program continuing as planned.
