On Thursday, a man was arrested for allegedly beating and killing his pregnant wife in their home in Kahawa Sukari Estate.
Beryl Adhiambo Ouma, who was expecting a child, was heard screaming for help for over four hours, but her neighbors failed to intervene.
According to her father, Douglas Ouma, Beryl had sent him 'Please Call Me' texts on Wednesday night, but when he responded, no one picked up the phone.
Laiko Osuri, the suspect, later told Ouma that Beryl had been taken to Neema Hospital for treatment, but the doctor said she was dead on arrival.
Ruiru OCPD James Ngetich said that Beryl's life could have been saved if her neighbors had responded to her distress calls.
Neighbors claimed that they ignored Beryl's screams, thinking it was a common domestic issue.
On August 2, 2019, at 2 AM, Beryl's screams started and continued until 5 AM, when there was a brief calm.
