Published on August 2, 2019, the Copa Coca Cola under 16 national championship is heating up in Kisumu county.
Wiyeta girls from the western region have secured a spot in the finals after beating Kobala from Nyanza 1-0 in the semi-finals.
Jamila Abida scored the lone goal in the 20th minute, sending Wiyeta to the finals.
Mayeni, also from the western region, will be Wiyeta's opponent in the finals after defeating Njabini from Central 2-0.
Wiyeta's path to the finals was not an easy one, as they had to overcome a 3-0 deficit in the group stages to advance.
On the other hand, the boys category saw Koyonzo from western region beat young boys from north eastern on post-match penalties 3-1.
The match ended 1-1 in normal time, with Abdullahi Ismael scoring for young boys in the 35th minute.
However, Koyonzo equalised in the dying minutes of play through Arnold Bukasa.
Koyonzo will now face coast champions Serani, who upset Nairobi champions Dagorretti high school 1-0.
Mohammed Sufi scored the goal for Serani in the 13th minute.
The finals of the Copa Coca Cola under 16 national championship will take place tomorrow at the Kisumu Moi Stadium.
Kenya is the defending champion for both boys and girls categories.
