On August 2, 2019, Muthoni Drummer Queen, a renowned Kenyan musician, took to Twitter to offer advice to fellow artist Willy Paul.

She urged Willy Paul to ditch the church crowd and focus on what makes him happy, stating that the Kenyan Gospel Industry is not about Jesus but about moving masses of bodies.

According to MDQ, many artists hide under the Gospel umbrella to gain acceptance in society, but their actions do not align with the teachings of a true Christian.

She advised Willy Paul to drop the gimmicks and build a new path for himself, saying he has the potential to conquer the secular industry and should not be afraid of being himself.

MDQ also expressed her frustration with the corporate music industry in Kenya, stating that it prioritizes numbers over artistic expression and creativity.

Her message to Willy Paul came days after his new song 'Lamba Nyonyo' received a hostile reception.
