On August 2, 2019, a Ugandan court handed down a sentence of 18 months in prison to Dr Stella Nyanzi, a prominent academic, for the crime of cyber-harassment.
However, due to the fact that Dr Nyanzi had already served half of the term in remand, she will only have to serve nine months of the sentence.
