On August 2, 2019, Samsung announced that it would offer at least two major OS upgrades to its budget phones, including the Galaxy J3 2017, also known as Galaxy J3 Pro 2017.
Launched with Android Nougat in 2017, the Galaxy J3 2017 is now receiving its last major OS upgrade, which installs Samsung One UI based on Android 9 Pie.
The software update has started rolling out to models SM-J330F and SM-J330G, with the latest July 2019 security patches included. The software version differs slightly between the two devices, with SM-J330F receiving version J330FXXU3CSG6 and SM-J330G receiving version J330GDXU3CSG7.
The rollout has commenced in Russia and Vietnam, but is expected to spread to other regions as long as no bugs are found in the initial rollout. If you own the Galaxy J3 2017 or J3 Pro 2017, the update should be heading your way anytime soon.
Users can check if the update is ready to download via Settings > Software update and tapping on Download updates manually.
