On August 2, 2019, police in Eldoret made a significant arrest, seizing fake currency notes worth over Ksh. 150 million.
The suspects were apprehended in a mansionette in Elgon View estate, allegedly owned by a former Webuye West parliamentary aspirant.
According to reports, a woman had filed a complaint, alleging she was tricked into paying Ksh. 600,000 with the promise that the money would be multiplied.
Langas OCPD Francis Warui confirmed the incident, urging residents to be vigilant against fake currencies.
Police have launched a manhunt for the ex-Webuye West parliamentary aspirant, who is believed to be on the run.
The two suspects are being held at Kiamba Police Station, pending further investigations and arraignment in court.
