Manchester United's pursuit of Bruno Fernandes has taken a significant turn after Sporting Lisbon rejected an offer from Tottenham, leaving the door open for the Red Devils to swoop in.

According to reports, Tottenham sent two senior officials to Portugal to negotiate a deal for the Portugal international, but Sporting are said to be unhappy with the offer, which fell short of their £64million valuation.

The development comes as Manchester United prioritized landing Leicester City defender Harry Maguire, which may have given them an upper hand in the transfer market.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had expressed frustration with the transfer window, stating that the club had picked the 'short straw' due to the late closure of the window.

However, with Sporting Lisbon now open to negotiations, Manchester United may have a chance to secure the signing of the highly-rated midfielder.
