Garissa Township MP Aden Duale has joined the debate on the planned swearing-in of opposition chief and Nasa leader Raila Odinga on December 12, 2017. He made the remarks when he spoke to journalists at the Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi.
According to Duale, Raila is aware of the consequences that await him if he is sworn in as president, including treason. He claimed that the former prime minister will flee to a neighboring country with which he has good relations and is supporting his political ambitions.
Speaking to journalists, Duale blasted Raila for the planned event, saying it was a 'gimmick' that did not befit his stature. He also stated that the Jubilee regime is strong and will not be shaken by such political stunts.
Mr. Duale, who is the leader of Majority in the National Assembly, stated that the Jubilee government will not be cowed by such gimmicks and will continue to discharge its duties whether Raila swears himself president or not.
The US has urged Mr. Odinga to call off his planned swearing-in and engage in consultative dialogue to end the political impasse. However, Raila has dismissed the calls, affirming that his planned swearing-in on December 12, 2017, is still on.
