Ken Okoth's mother, Angelina, has taken a dramatic step to prove the paternity of her son, who she claims is the late Kibra MP's child. On Friday, August 2, 2019, Angelina petitioned the court to stop the cremation or burial of Okoth until she is recognized as his wife and her child accepted as Okoth's heir.
According to Angelina's lawyer, Edwin Sifuna, the mother consented to the DNA testing to prove the fatherhood of the son at the centre of controversy. Sifuna argued that there was no dispute to warrant such a ruling, and the collection of DNA specimen should be done before close of business on the same day to allow other burial process to proceed as planned.
Thumbi, the Nairobi MCA, met the deceased Kibra lawmaker in 2013 while she worked with Sonko Rescue Team, and a relationship allegedly started. She claimed Okoth is the father of her son and was seeking to have her son listed among Okoth's heirs.
Pathologists are on standby at the Lee funeral home, and Thumbi is expected in court to respond to the request by Okoth's family. If Thumbi gets the doctors, the exercise shall be conducted immediately so that the funeral programme can proceed.
