On August 2, 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta received four peacocks gifted by his Tanzanian counterpart, President Pombe Magufuli.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Kenyatta expressed his gratitude and appreciation to President Magufuli for the symbolic gesture.
The peacocks signify the values of love, unity, and brotherhood that exist between the people of Kenya and Tanzania, according to President Kenyatta.
"This is in the spirit of brotherhood and friendship of the East African region," President Kenyatta said. "It is a great honour not only between us as Presidents but as the people of East Africa. This deep relationship and brotherhood should continue so as to benefit our current and future generations."
President Kenyatta emphasized the importance of unity among East African nations, stating that with the existing unity, they will work together to overcome challenges and build a strong and cohesive brotherhood.
