On August 2, 2019, Odibets launched its 35,000 sports kits sponsorship campaign, a move that has received widespread acclaim from both sports and non-sports stakeholders in Kenya.
At the heart of this initiative is veteran Kenyan international football player Allan Wanga, who partnered with Odibets to commemorate his retirement from international football and shift his focus to growing sports at the grassroots level.
Speaking at the event, Wanga emphasized the importance of giving young talents a chance in football, saying, "You need to pave way for the younger generation, young talents that are also in the industry."
Wanga, who has retired internationally, believes that his time has come to an end, allowing him to give a chance to upcoming young players who are looking forward to playing for the national team.
"There is a lot of talent on the ground and I think that is why we came up with this idea. We play with them to give them the confidence and also let them know that they can make it in terms of football," said Wanga.
Other notable stakeholders who attended the event included Zesco United's Jesse Were and Anthony Akumu, who interacted freely with the youth at the tournament.
Odibets Marketing Manager Aggrey Said expressed the company's commitment to contributing to the development of sports and youth activities in the environments they operate, stating, "As we spread our tentacles in all corners of the country with our 35,000 kits initiative, we intend to explore other mutually beneficial partnerships with stakeholders who value sports."
Odibets Head of Bookmaking Daniel Macharia added, "It is a core belief of Odibets to contribute in the development of sports and youth activities in the environments we operate and that’s why we sponsored Mathare United when we launched."
