Dr. Lihanda Savai, a former presidential aspirant who made headlines in 2007, has passed away at his home in Sabatia, Vihiga County.

According to his son, Mr. Abinayo Lihanda, Dr. Lihanda succumbed to high blood pressure last week. His body was taken to Mbale hospital mortuary.

Mr. Lihanda explained that his father had been in and out of the hospital due to his deteriorating condition. He appealed to Kenyan leaders, including President Uhuru Kenyatta, Deputy President William Ruto, and opposition chief Raila Odinga, to help with the funeral expenses.

Dr. Lihanda's family is struggling to raise the estimated KES 1 million needed for a decent send-off. His son, Lihanda, made a public appeal to well-wishers, saying, 'We are appealing to people from all walks of Kenya to offer our family any necessary support at this trying moment that we are mourning our beloved father who proved his love for Kenya following his attempts to become President of the nation.'
