Kenya Re, a reinsurance firm, has undergone significant changes in its leadership. As of 1st August 2019, Chiboli Shakaba has taken over as the chairman of the board, succeeding David Kimei who joined the board in June 2014.

Chiboli's appointment comes after a dramatic turn of events in 2018. In March of that year, the board removed Jadiah Mwarania as managing director, citing non-performance. However, Jadiah successfully appealed the decision in court and was reinstated as managing director in July 2018.

Chiboli Shakaba has a wealth of experience in various state-owned corporations, including the National Housing Corporation, Kenya Post Office Savings bank, Development Bank of Kenya, and Nzoia Sugar. Prior to joining Kenya Re, he worked at the National Treasury as a liaison for the World Bank and as the head of administration.

Kenya Re board members have congratulated Chiboli on his appointment, marking a new chapter in the company's history.
